MOAB MADNESS 2004

The Motley bunch on Golden Spike

From left to right: Brian "Hello Dennis? " Gould,  Eric "Honorary Pinzer" Johnson,  Paul "Now What?" Buckner, Park "%&#@$%" Hill,  Douwe "The Clutch" Bruinsma. Mike "Tater Salad" Kinsey. Not Pictured Ann "let me out" Bruinsma who was taking the picture. Don't worry Ann, they'll be pictures of you later..

For the second year in a row, RMP members went to Moab with the "Mogs at Moab" group. This year we ran more trails, broke & dented more stuff, and had a blast.  The weather cooperated (for the most part)  and we will be back.

Trails we did.  (Not everyone did every trail)

Thanks to Douwe, Ann, Paul, and Park for the photos!   Video is coming soon.

The start of Hells revenge is a nasty ledge about 4ft tall.

The group at the start of Hell's Revenge.

Ron DePugh climbs the first big dome on Hell's revenge

Another view of the first big dome on Hell's revenge. Steep!

Bottom view of the 1st huge dome on the Hell's revenge trail.

Descending into the "hot tub" on Hells revenge. A bad line here would ruin your day.

Paul climbs out of the hot tub at the Top of Hell's Revenge

Lining up for the Hot Tub on Hell's revenge

Brave jeeper hauling a camp trailer up a obstacle on Fins & Things. He did make it after a few tries. (A 710 could have held all this stuff)

Back of the line on Fins and Things

Douwe and Ann

Park drops off a ledge. Like to have a dime for all these we did.

Mike preparing for the "launch pad" on Golden Spike.

Paul on Kenny's climb

Another steep desent on Fins and Things. Everyones tires were squealing heading down this one.

This gives you an idea of how steep these climbs and desents are.

The top end of "the waterfall" on Poison Spider Mesa. What a great trail! The best (ahem) was to come though.

The famous "wedgie" obstacle on Poison Spider Mesa. No problems at all in a Pinz.

Douwe tipped it over on a innocent looking corner Golden Spike

Douwe and the front windshield after "modification."

Here's Ann after the tipover.. Looks pretty calm huh? She did walk a lot of the trail after that..

This was one of the nastiest dropoffs on the whole Golden Spike trail and of course it was raining very hard when we did it.

Paul going through the Golden Crack obstacle with some "Wyoming weight" on his Left Rear.

The 6x6 walked right across the golden crack. The 710's did too but were much more entertaining

Front view of the casualty after the Golden Crack. . Typical scenerio, too much tilt, wheel turned, Not paying enough attention.. FLOP.

..From the bottom. No serious damage

Ego bruised but not much else damaged.

Park was stuck in the same crack that flipped me over. A tug with a strap got him out.

Park out of the evil crack.

Climbing the Golden Stairs. Notice the trashed Xterra in the background.

Park on "double Whammy" didn't quite make it up.

Paul desending still more ledges on Gold Bar Rim

Douwe styling for the camera on Porcupine Rim

This is a real dinosaur track, preserved on the Klondike bluffs trail

One of the spires at Tower Arch

Ron DePugh and "Mog Central" Ron and the moggers were great hosts again this year.

Eric Johnson solved the problem of transporting his 416 Mog and having a place for his family as well. How about a Freightliner Flatbed with a

24ft. Tounge haul travel trailer minus the wheels strapped to the flatbed.

Here's the business end off the setup. Still plenty of room for the Mog. Eric found this whole setup suprisingly cheap.

Is it any wonder why we're considering doing Treffen here next year?
